Maddie Cranston, a grade twelve student at Sir John. A MacDonald S.S. is the 2020-2021 Co-Chair of SVP Teens. She has seven years of public speaking experience where she has been able to raise awareness about ocean conservation and youth empowerment at events like TEDxWaterloo Youth and other nationwide conferences. She has also started and led clubs, such as Save the Sharks and A-Team for Wildlife, gaining fundraising and leadership experience. After serving as vice-chair for SVP Teens, she hopes to maintain the sustainability of the program and continue to amplify the voices of youth in her community.

Namrata Mishra is interested in being involved and present in the community. She is - and has been - involved with organizations such as, SVP Teens, Impact Without Contact, the Youth Council at THEMUSEUM, Youth Medical Action Potential, etc. In the future, Namrata would like to pursue a career in the medical sciences; however, she has an apt interest in journalism, poetry, reading, and baking.

EMMA

Emma Windsor is 16 years old and goes to KCI. She loves sports and plays for several rugby teams around Ontario including Waterloo County Rugby, NRU Thunder, and Ontario Blues. She has a part-time job as a hostess at Graffiti Market and loves spending time with her friends. She is also involved in the community in different groups such as SVP and Different Abilities as well as the leadership program at KCI and loves running events and fundraisers.

JIRO

Jiro Kakpovbia is a student/rapper/athlete who spends his free time either playing sports such as basketball and football, or watching Netflix and YouTube. He also creates, writes and produces his own music under the name "Dark Chocolate." He has a new single out called "Wannabe" on all platforms. His song "Take My Crown" currently has over 185 000 streams. He plays for the Cambridge Lions Football club and he was a part of SVP Teens last year.

Quinn is currently in grade 11 at SJAM. She enjoys playing soccer, golf, and running cross country every fall at school. Some of her other hobbies include playing guitar, reading, and spending time with friends and family. Outside of school, she plays rep soccer, and works at Jack’s Family Restaurant. One interesting fact about Quinn is that she was adopted from China.

Jeremy is interested in sci-fi, politics, music, and games. He plays the clarinet, and saxophone. He enjoys reading, playing board games, and sleeping. He likes to think that he is hilarious but others disagree. One fun fact about him is that he has both learned and forgotten Klingon and Elvish.

Mitraa is a 16 year-old student at Sir John A. Macdonald S.S. who is interested in business, biology and chemistry. She enjoys getting involved in the community and is thus part of a variety of organizations such as EM Girls, Model UN, and volunteering at KidsAbility. Mitraa is glad that she listened to the advice of SVP Teens Execs about SHAD and is excited to be participating. A fun fact about Mitraa is that she has attended 9 different schools.

MATTHEW

Matthew Matta is interested in joining SVP Teens as he believes this is an excellent way for him to give back to his community. Matthew is an experienced leader, being the co-captain of his competitive soccer team, as well as being the head of the feeder system in his robotics group. He is also interested in software development and has prior knowledge in many languages. Matthew’s favourite colour is green, and can surprisingly run the 100m in under 12 seconds.

SAANIYA

Saaniya Saraf is an all-rounder with a passion for technology. With Technovation, she developed two environment-based apps, which she presented in Paris, France. Being a Technovation Student Ambassador, she empowers young girls in her community to learn software. She volunteers at a retirement home, is a YMCA lifeguard and frequently pursues higher-level mathematics. Currently, Saaniya is supporting small businesses with the kwLocale app and. Fun fact, Saaniya has memorized all the countries of the world.

Sohil Athare is an aspiring UI/UX designer, developer, graphic designer, and video editor from Waterloo, Ontario. He is mainly participating in Hackathons related to multiple subjects, including helping to solve issues that have arrived from this pandemic and practicing his graphic and video editing skills. He has a very avid interest in technology and is going to be soon launching a start up company.

Ryan Jobby is 16 and attends Sir John A Macdonald S.S. Ryan is a leadership student, and hopes to be the school's next coprime. Ryan Jobby is a member of the DECA club, Track team, Cross Country team, Curling Team, Mathletes club, and is a manager for the junior boys soccer team. Outside of school, Ryan participates in SVP Teens and is a soon to be keynote speaker. A fun fact is he was the mayor for a day.

Lauren Brown is a fun-loving, charismatic, and inspired student in grade eleven, who hopes to make an impact in her community. When she isn’t in the classroom, you’ll likely find her at the closest piano, or on the basketball court, as a player or referee. Skylar is a grade 11 student at SJAM who is extremely passionate about getting involved in various clubs at school and within the community. She enjoys playing the violin/clarinet, graphite drawing and is interested in STEM, computer science and graphic design. Although she is an introvert, Skylar isn't afraid to lead through becoming a Photography Club/Chinese Student Council Executive and President of UUA Waterloo. Fun fact: Skylar enjoys travelling and has travelled to 7 different countries so far.

Jacinta Shrishankar attends Glenview Park Secondary School and is in Grade 9. Some of her interests are dance, art, helping within her community, basketball, football and baking. She’s interested in health care and world equality. She currently does Bharatanatyam, volunteers at an International Language School, Summer Camp, Library and more. A fun fact about her is that she’s active in Tamil cultural events. She has been the MC and performed various times in the Tamil Cultural Association of Waterloo Region.

Eliana is a high school student grade 11th at RCSS (Resurrection).  She has been 2 years in Canada. Last year , she started to volunteer with many organizations. She volunteered with crizon, volunteer action center, and is looking forward to volunteer with the Museum after the pandemic is over. Also, she is still virtually volunteering with the volunteer action center . She really likes to get involved with her community and help them with anything  she can. Fun fact  - I like to sleep more during the day than at night.

Tina Jang is interested in impacting her community to make a difference. She has been a part of 6 different clubs at school such as the arts council, badminton team and social justice. Tina participated in a French Speaking Contest and takes leadership opportunities at school by joining Phoenix Friends (selected club for welcoming grade 9’s). She has volunteered at a senior home since 2018, and has worked at the Kitchener Farmers Market since January 2019. She is interested in STEAM and enjoys playing the violin and doing the arts.

My name is Nima Sheth. Some interests of mine include travelling, arts and crafts, baking, and running. My current involvements outside of school include Air Cadets which I have been doing for almost 5 years. I also am an exec for Youth Helping Youth Ontario which helps notify kids in Ontario about opportunities that they can be a part of. Lastly, a fun fact about me is that when I was younger, I used to run a rainbow loom business!

Lola Kovacevic is interested in dance, music, learning languages, business, and getting involved in the community! She’s been heavily involved in extra-curriculars both in and outside of school including various sports teams, intensive ballet training, piano classes, assistant teaching dance, directing & organizing a charity fashion show for Cystic Fibrosis Canada, completing the Duke of Edinburgh award and more. A fun fact about Lola is that English is her second language, Serbian being the first one!
